Abus Granit Plus 640 U-Lock, 9, Black

The Granit Plus 640, a compact and lightweight bike lock, is slightly wider than its predecessor, the Future 64. Despite its compact size, it is capable of locking around reinforced parking meters. The 640 boasts an array of security upgrades, making it our highest security mini U-lock, scoring 12 out of 15 on the security scale.

Crafted from Temper-hardened steel, the shackle, case, and supporting elements of the lock mechanism, as well as other weight-optimized alloys, are used in the construction of the 640. This combination results in a lock that is both lightweight and sturdy.

The upgraded locking mechanism now bolts four times into the lock body, with two bolts per shackle side. This feature provides excellent protection against twisting and torsion attacks, requiring thieves to cut both sides of the shackle in order to steal the bike. Despite these security enhancements, the 640 still offers a great user "feel" and comfort when locking.

The 12 mm hardened steel round shackle is a standout feature, providing robust protection. Additionally, the lock's soft-touch coating helps to protect the bike's paint from any potential damage.

The Granit Plus 640 comes with two keys, one of which is LED-lighted, and a security level of 12, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a highly secure mini U-lock.
